THE HISTORY
Woody Point and The Old Loft Restaurant are very rich in history. The original building where The Old Loft Restaurant is located was built in 1936 by Thomas Garcin after being destroyed twice by fire. The first fire occurred in early 1922 when a terrible fire destroyed 58 shops, boats, homes and fishing stores, wiping out the entire business district along the waterfront. Since the early 1800's Woody Point had been the centre of commerce for the entire West Coast of Newfoundland, until that day.

The second fire was in October of 1941 which destroyed 3 businesses, one being the Thomas Garcin building.

Despite two devastating fires, the building was reconstructed and the original clapboard and ceiling still remains in the dining area from 1936.

Bonne Bay has a rich history and beautiful scenery.
